A really good day!

STEAM Students Celebrating a Great Day

Last month 35 6-8th graders took their first instructional flight at our field, through our partnership with their school, Irving STEAM Magnet in Los Angeles. Our mission is to inspire learning and to build confidence in young teens toward STEM related studies and career goals. Over 100 people at our field during this day. Checkout their classes logo/hat, seen on a few kids in this photo. If you'd like to see more images from the day, checkout our Instagram page on the "highlights" under STEM and 8th graders.

This year we saw the number of girls participating triple over last year. One student from this school is well on his way to soloing after winning a scholarship from Figure 1 Foundation. He was inspired to continue after his first flight a year ago.

Moments before her flight she told the teacher she had a headache and couldn't go after all. Her teacher said "You can do this, I believe in you". Turns out she not only loved it, and wasn't scared at all, but she told her teacher she always wanted to go into the USAF but never felt she could, until after this flight. Now it is not only a dream, but an actual goal!

They are enrolled in a Flight & Space class but the focus is through the lens of gliders first. Their classroom features flight simulators, a wind tunnel and Oculus.
