GOOD As It Gets

Last week we finally saw multiple straight-out flights for members of the Crystal Squadron.   The weather was perfect as predicted, so on Friday Karl Sommer grabbed his first diamond of the year, to Gabbs, NV, while Mike Koerner and Dave Raspet soared 393 miles to Air Sailing in the desert north of Reno.    Then on Saturday Captain Koerner non-chalantly soared all the way back to Crystal!    So much for the longstanding myth that Crystal is terrific for soaring straight out, but impossible to return to in soaring flight (actually it IS impossible - but only for those who refuse to try...).The coming week will bring fine soaring here at Crystal, not as fantastic as last week, just lite winds and lots of thermal lift - as usual.
