KUDOS AGAIN

First, congratulations this week go to Sequoia Chun, who flew her first glider solo Sunday – and to Richard Smolinski who flew his first long cross country soaring flight from Crystal the day before. These past several sun drenched months have supplied more terrific soaring day after day than any one pilot will ever remember, like always.  Yet long-time locals agree that, while far superior to ordinary soaring sites, our daily banquet has averaged subpar this season.  Whether that’s for a particular reason or luck of the draw I’m not saying, but we’re glad to declare that every day this last week was as good as it gets.  How ‘bout that? So it's no surprise that the Crystal squadron concluded a tough season with fine flights to the north last week also.  Peter Kovari and Karl Sommer flew furthest, 352 miles to Austin, NV.  In our SOARING IS LEARNING SECTION below, Dave Raspet describes his flight to Gabbs.
