MEET THE HEAT

First, congratulations to Cal Hadley-Thomas for his first glider solo last weekend!  Also, Last Friday, local big dog Mike Koerner soared 492 miles to Nephi, UT - see his report below, in SOARING IS LEARNING.What with our climate changing so fast, the Crystal Squadron has had few opportunities this year for long straight-out cross countries - so far, that is.  We've been getting plenty of lift every day, but seldom high enough for long, bold glides across the desert.  This week, at least, that should change.  We'll see hotter each day for a spell, and thermals above 12 K like in the old days, with light winds except for the usual 20-knot blow every afternoon.  Bring your swimming pool!
