'Monsoon' Continues
People who live in a moist climate would have to chuckle, but here in the Mojave a few big clouds and maybe a short-lived thundershower are called 'monsoon' weather. We've had such conditions every day now for a couple weeks - bringing some of the easiest soaring conditions imaginable. For cross-country soaring however, the heavy shading and precip cause serious difficulties. Mike Koerner's tale of his most recent flight is a well-told example, finished by diving through the heaviest rain he'd ever seen - and still reaching diamond distance!
