POTENTIAL !

The coming period may be our best so far this season for local thermal activity.  If breezes from the south become a factor they may shut down the mountains mid-afternoon, but when that does happen it usually crowds lift into a shearline that marches steadily across our airport and north into the deep desert.  However it works out, with cumulus bases up around 15K,  only the very biggest lift over highest peaks may be marked by cloud.  (Fly by braille!)Two weeks ago (Apr. 18), Sean Eckstein made this season's first cross-country soaring flight from Crystal, 260 miles into Arizona on a route he'd never flown before.  Congratulations Papa Victor! And don't forget, we'll be going to Bishop again this summer, Friday July 17th through Monday July 20th, offering private pilot tows and 3-hr blocks of time in our glider(s) with one of our instructors.  Details to follow.
