SOARING FORECAST DECEMBER 21-24, 2012

THIS WEEKEND:WAVE ALERT: Wave pilots, pre-flight your O2 systems and don't forget your wool socks and caps -the wave will be fantastic this period! Looks like Friday and Saturday the pre-frontal and post-frontal wave will push in over our San Gabriels ahead of a low pressure system arriving this weekend. The southwesterly flow at 10,000 feet is forecast to be 30+ knots so our wave area will positively be active. Surface winds will be almost non-existant so don't fret over crosswinds -but always be on the look out for rotor touchdown near the field!Sunday also may be a wave day but the intensity will be tapering off.It will be bright, sunny and clear at the field while the LA and surrounding coastal areas will be under a cloud deck with rain almost certain. Come on out and enjoy exceptional sunny soaring conditions throughout this holiday weekend.WE WILL BE CLOSED CHRISTMAS EVE (MONDAY)  The National Weather Service is predicting the following local surface conditions for Saturday through Monday: FRIDAY:Sunny, Temperature: 57 degreesWind: South 5 mph.SATURDAY:Mostly Sunny, Temperature: 56 degreesWind: Southwest 10 mph.SUNDAYMostly Sunny, Temperature: 54 degreesWind: Southwest 15-20 mph.MONDAY:Some clouds, Temperature: 53 degreesWind: West 10-15 mph.email weather comments to robert.settle@gmail.com
