SOARING FORECAST JULY 1 TO 4, 2011

CURRENT SOARING FORECAST FOR SCSA (CRYSTALAIRE - 46CN) JULY 1 TO 4, 2011 Wow! An amazing weekend of soaring weather is on tap. Hot weather and light tropical winds should produce booming thermals marked by cumulus throughout this period. Did I say hot? We will have triple digit temps through next week.A ridge of high pressure will park itself over the four corners beginning Saturday effectively blocking the westerly marine inflow for several days. The anti-cyclonic winds from the southeast will likely bring in some sub-tropical moisture starting Saturday. Combined with the heat there is the likelihood of towering cumuls so be on the lookout for local over-development Saturday onwards. You'll probably see over-development present itself throughout the period in the east near Big Bear. Dr. Jacks soaring forecast predicts lift of 600 FPM to over 11,000 feet at the field Friday and 12,000 feet and above Saturday. Sunday and Monday should be similar and likely even better. Should be an excellent cross-country weekend. See Hcrit and W files below for the CA/NV region. Oregon anyone? SATURDAY UPDRAFT HEIGHT FORECAST: 1400 HRS.
