SOARING FORECAST JULY 16-19, 2010

SOARING FORECAST FOR SCSA (CRYSTALAIRE - 46CN) JULY 16-19, 2010 (FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY)LAST WEEKEND conditions did not match up to what the weather models had predicted but we enjoyed excellent local soaring conditions nevertheless.THIS WEEKEND Good altitudes with great lift are forecast throughout the period. Still quite hot in our area but temps down a few degrees from last weekends bake-off. We have a monsoonal flow that created monstrous towering cumulus Thursday as the moist air cooked off and lifted in the desert heat. Expect more of the same this weekend. Thunderstorms in some areas of SoCal but not likely in our local patch. Friday is the day most likely for overdevelopment near the field and diminishing as the weekend progresses and the monsoonal flow shuts down. Lots of Cu's and atmospherics should make the sky interesting.Dr Jack's predictions indicate FRIDAY the ceiling of useable lift will be at 14,000 feet with 650 fpm of lift at the field.SATURDAYpredictions point to 600 FPM of lift at the field to 11,000 feet MSL.Dr. Jack's Blipmaps and soaring predictions are free with a simple registration at his website.http://www.drjack.info/The National Weather Service is predicting the following surface conditions for Friday through Monday:FRIDAY:Sunny and Hot, Temperature: 102 degreesWind: Southwest 5 to 15 mph.SATURDAY:Sunny and Hot, Temperature: 102 degrees.Wind: West 5 to 10 mph.SUNDAYSunny and Hot, Temperature: 104 degreesWind: Southwest 10 to 15 mph.MONDAY:Sunny and Hot, Temperature: 103 degreesWind: Southwest 6 to 18 mph.
