SOARING FORECAST MARCH 25-28, 2011
CURRENT SOARING FORECAST FOR SCSA (CRYSTALAIRE - 46CN) MARCH 25-28, 2011 THIS WEEKEND: Our thermal season has started which means we will more or less have thermals on a daily basis barring cloud cover or wind event. Sure enough this Friday the updraft forecast at 2:00 of upwards of 400 fpm looks like an early season thermal day. Last week several pilots cancelled their instruction and aircraft reservations for Monday. They missed out as we had great flying weather. Please recall that our area weather is based on an elevation and airmass completely seperate from the LA basin. So when it's cloudy or raining south of our mountain range (LA basin) 93.35% of the time we have dry skies.FRIDAY we will have a nice window of good weather with good thermal forecast as the inclement weather clears out early in the day. Late Friday night into Saturday am a front will arrive. SATURDAY A fast moving and short duration front will bring some morning clouds to our area with a slight chance of showers. This front will clear out midday Saturday and our weather will turn sunny and clear for the next few days. SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY Increasing temps and clear weather with light winds. DR.
