SOARING FORECAST, NOVEMBER 11 TO 14, 2011
WEEKEND SOARING FORECAST, NOVEMBER 11 TO 14, 2011
A weak, fast moving cold front arrives Friday. It will be short termed moving out Saturday pm. It looks to produce wave conditions at or near the field on Friday for most of the day through Saturday noon. Los Angeles and coastal areas will get precipitation but our high desert area will be mostly dry. Pretty good chance that there will be clear air in our area but not making any bets on absence of cloud cover for Friday thru Saturday.Clear skies and nice weather are forecast for Sunday. Monday temps are forecast to increase again. The forecast models indicate 500 FPM of lift at the field to over 9,000 feet for Friday and Saturday. That forecast seems to say there may not be clouds in our area. If the front creates a stratus layer the lift forecast will likely not hold up. Or it may be a great soaring day. Since frontal weather is more difficult to predict we'll see how it turns out.If all else fails Friday and Saturday, we'll fire up the barbeque. FRIDAY THERMAL UPDRAFT VELOCITY FORECAST 1400 HOURS
