WEEKEND SOARING FORECAST, NOVEMBER 25 TO 28, 2011
We have a beautiful weekend on tap! SUNNY, WARM WEATHER THROUGHOUT THE PERIOD WITH MOSTLY LIGHT TO CALM WINDS. ...Perfect weather to bring friends or relatives out for some soaring fun.The coastal clouds and moist weather loitering Thursday will quickly be replaced Friday by a building high pressure system with commensurate warm dry air. That means our area will be sunny and warm throughout the period. As the cold front departs and heads east on Friday/Saturday look for wave -especially on Saturday as winds aloft from the South at the 10,000 foot level are predicted to be 25 knots.Late SATURDAY through MONDAY expect to see a quick change with some warm offshore wind development (north component) albeit very light to calm. I suspect the clear air and calm winds will make our local foothills (morning mountain) the likely suspects for some thermal activity.Looks to be a fun soaring weekend with the bonus to hunt off-season thermals. DR. JACKS REPORTS INDICATE LIFT OF UP TO 400 FPM FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. HEIGHT OF LIFT FORECAST IS 8,000 - 9,000 FEET. FRIDAY 1400 HRS. THERMAL UPDRAFT FORECAST. SATURDAY 1400 HRS. BOUNDARY LAYER WIND FORECAST.
