WEEKEND SOARING FORECAST, OCTOBER 21 TO 24, 2011

The forecast for thermals Friday and Saturday at the field are 300 to 400 FPM. Height of lift will likely be about 9,000 to 10,000 feet. Thermal production will be helped by lack of winds.Last week we had prolific thermals and strong dust devils produced by our runway.Shear from Baden Powell towards Krey Field may be in force this weekend. Most coastal areas will be under a persistent cloud deck. Our high desert area will be clear, warm and sunny with nice comfortable temps in the 80's. Calm to light winds will prevail for the weekend mostly with a north, northeast component due to a ridge of high pressure to our east.Looks like a fun weekend of soaring is on tap.
