SOARING FORECAST OCTOBER 26 - 29, 2012

THIS WEEKEND:We are back from our annual break and are towing this weekend. Looks like we'll have very clear and sunny skies with light breezes. High pressure to the north has created a "Santa Ana" northerly flow condition that will persist through Sunday. It will not be very breezy at the field but it will be extremely windy down the hill in Los Angeles and the valley areas. The air will heat by compression and accelerate southward and downward from the high desert area towards the valleys and LA region as it flows downhill.Dr. Jacks thermal forecast predicts thermal velocity for this period to be in the 300 FPM range.Something to look for will be "bow wave" with high likelihood of ridge lift in our local mountains.  The National Weather Service is predicting the following local surface conditions for Saturday through Monday: FRIDAY:Sunny, Temperature: 70 degreesWind: Southeast 10 - 15 mph.SATURDAY:Sunny, Temperature: 78 degreesWind: East 5 mph.SUNDAYSunny, Temperature: 81 degreesWind: Northeast 5 mph.MONDAY:Sunny, Temperature: 79 degreesWind: Variable 5 mph.email weather comments to robert.settle@gmail.com
