THE SEASON TURNS
We often note that an annual streak of about two hundred consecutive days of soarable weather here at Crystal normally ends some time around mid-October. This year it came on the 16th. But that doesn't mean the season's over. On Saturday the 17th we had wave right over the airport all day, accessible from as low as a 1500-foot tow. And the next afternoon broad thermal lift for miles around the airport was accessible from even lower, strengthening with height as the best thermal conditions always do.Now, the coming week will bring more consecutive soarability, light winds and modest thermals up to mountaintop altitude or higher - for our soaring season here never really ends...
