CURRENT SOARING FORECAST FOR SCSA (CRYSTALAIRE - 46CN) DECEMBER 17-20, 2010 THIS WEEKEND : We will be towing and flying through Monday as weather permits. Breaks in the precipitation mean opportunities for flights with interesting skies. Often when we have cloud producing fronts the height of cloud base is several thousand feet above our field giving us the opportunty to fly locally and hunt for wave or ridge in our mountain range. Weather models predict WAVE Friday through Monday in various forms along our San Gabriels. Come and get it as weather permits. Lesser weather systems usually leave our high desert area dry while it rains below in LA and the coast. This weekend's weather is powered by a stationary system low spinning off the coast of Seattle (see jet stream image below) with the winds aloft streaming moisture in a 3000 mile arc to southern california. Saturday through Sunday am the chance of precipitation will be peaking. Sunday afternoon onward will be drier.
