CURRENT SOARING FORECAST FOR SCSA (CRYSTALAIRE - 46CN) NOV 5-8, 2010 LAST WEEKEND...STUNNING WAVE all day long on Friday per predictions. Several pilots rode the elevator up to 18,000 feet. The hookup point was a tow over the Devils Punchbowl where after suffering through the rotor, there was laminar flow at relatively low altitudes allowing an easy tow directly into the wave. Some pilots decided that was too easy and got off tow early over the field in an attempt locate and fly the ascending side of the rotor there to hook up with wave. No luck but they bought an excellent hour of concentrated suffering in the washing machine that I'm sure has made them better pilots for it. Hats off to those who opt to "take the road less traveled" knowing it will be more difficult.THIS WEEKEND By Friday the blistering hot high pressure system will be bugging out east replaced immediately by the arrival of a low pressure system. Saturday onwards temps will be normal to below normal. Moisture is expected to arrive at coastal areas but our high desert area will likely be the place to be with warm temps and sunny weather forecast for this period.Keep on eye out for wave conditions as these frontal systems change and pass which is our promt to check the winds forecast for favorable speed and directions. Any direction from southeast through west with speeds of 30+ knots "at elevation" is an almost sure indication.
