EMERGENCY!

       Concerning takeoff emergencies: think negatively and act positively.   Plan to abort and execute an immediate landing during every single moment of every single launch.   Always!   It can happen, which means it will happen, and when it does, it will happen NOW.   Be really ready!   When it does hit the fan your must keep your speed (steady!), bank steeply if necessary, and COORDINATE all turns and roll-outs.       Don't just accept what somebody says about your landing possibilities beyond the runway, go out there and walk the area.   If you can't drive a car on that surface you might wreck an aircraft trying to land there.   Decide for yourself whether you can get your sailplane in there and get it stopped.   Remember, you're not being forced to launch in any particular situation.   There are other options...
