SOARING FORECAST JANUARY 28-31, 2011
CURRENT SOARING FORECAST FOR SCSA (CRYSTALAIRE - 46CN) JANUARY 28-31, 2011 THIS WEEKEND : The persistent yet gentle northeast offshore flow that's been dominating our weather all week will break down and our westerly marine influence will return to our area for this period. Next week (Tuesday onwards) the forecast is for a return again of the dry offshore conditions. It will be sunny, clear and beautiful short sleeve weather in our high desert. Thermal forecasts on saturday indicate lift of up to 350 FPM at the field. Very light winds are forecast on all days excepting Saturday and then only our usual 5-15 knots or so.FIELD REPORT FROM DALE MASTERS : This Wednesday while our operation was closed the northeast winds created remarkable "bow" wave marked by stacked lenticular clouds upwind of our mountain range. Airflow pushing in from the north piling up against the mountains and the LA basin airmass created an atmospheric lifting wedge driving winds up and over.SUNDAY UPDATE 9:00 AM: FIRST THERMALS OF THE SEASON ARE HERE.
