At some point (soon, hopefully) a new pilot possessed of surprising genius may rise quickly beyond you.   If you were privileged to be that rookie’s mentor, you can then proudly take your place as this new mentor’s favorite protégé…   There is no finer satisfaction than being surpassed by one whose early efforts benefited from your support.   In the long run, you’ll stand to gain from theirs as well…  And face it: there will always be pilots superior to you.   Honor excellence by engaging them however you can and learning the secrets of their success.  It’s treasure for the taking.   Be gracious, but not bashful.   After all, the only stupid questions are those you fail to ask!Finally, throughout the entire process of learning to sail our endless sky, in the struggles and glories, frustration and fulfillment, always savor what you’ve seen and done, knowing that full digestion of this flight and this season will make your next flight and next season that much better.
