SOARING FORECAST JUNE 18-21, 2010

SOARING FORECAST FOR SCSA (CRYSTALAIRE - 46CN) JUNE 18-21, 2010LAST WEEKENDWe were expecting good soaring conditions but what transpired was a FANTASTIC period of soaring weather. Lift everywhere to 11,000 feet over the field allowed quick hopping off to the mountains and cross-country flights or the ability to happily poke around aloft as long as desired. Several pilots made a 700+ kilometer out and return to Boundary Peak.THIS WEEKENDWe will see a consistent weather pattern for this period with good soaring conditions and our usual west winds at the field and southwest winds aloft. Friday may see some gusty winds. Although it will be quite warm, low pressure over the pacific is keeping temperatures down a few degrees from last weeks bake-off with it's onshore flow contributing to some cloudiness at the coasts while we enjoy unlimited sunshine at the field. The Wrightwood-Krey shearline should be in full-swing throughout the period as the marine airmass is pushed into the simmering desert. Good hunting!Dr Jack's predictions indicate FRIDAY the ceiling of useable lift will be at 10,000 feet with 600 fpm of lift at the field.SATURDAYpredictions point to 600 FPM of lift at the field to 10,000 feet.SUNDAYpredictions point to 600 FPM of lift at the field to 10,000 feet.Dr. Jack's Blipmaps and soaring predictions are free with a simple registration at his website.http://www.drjack.info/The National Weather Service is predicting the following surface conditions for Saturday through Monday:FRIDAY:Sunny, Temperature: 88 degreesWind: Southwest 10 to 20 mph gusting up to 30.SATURDAY:Sunny, Temperature: 84 degreesWind: Southwest 10 - 15 mph.SUNDAY:Sunny, Temperature: 86 degreesWind: Southwest 10 - 15 mph.MONDAY:Sunny, Temperature: 87 degreesWind: Southwest 10 mph.
